a plea [do i plead too much?]

i saw a couple breaking up yesterday,
in the chapters/starbucks parking lot.
his hands drummed out a steady beat on the steering wheel and he let his head loll back carelessly as he talked. i imagined him saying, "please don't feel bad...you're a great girl, such a great girl, believe me, but...[insert poorly thought-out break-up excuse here]." but really, he looked like he wanted to push her out of the car and drive away.
her eyes were all red and puffy and shiny with tears, and she stared out the window at another couple across the parking lot who were hugging and hugging and hugging like they were never ever going to let go of each other.
barclay raised his eyebrows at me as he started the car, and we left the two couples alone.
it felt sad.
anyways, the point is not that.
the point is that this morning when i woke up i felt as though i'd been sucking on a porcupine. my throat was completely raw and i was talking like molly johnson (cbc radio? anyone? nevermind).
i guess this is what blogs are good for: does anyone out there in the blogosphere have a nice little cure for my itchy, pained throat and raspy witch vocals?
i'm kind of dying here.

Ginger tea or lemon tea with honey.

I really hate breakups. I'm so glad I'm married.
