one time, i entered a coloring contest, and i didn't win. unfun.one time, i entered a raffle for a charity and i won an XXL-sized t-shirt for a sports team i didn't know anything about. it was too big and too stupid and i gave it away. unfantastic.
one time, i entered a giveaway on some person's blog whose name i won't mention because i'm not a rude rudy. the giveaway was for a pair of sunglasses and i needed sunglasses at the time so i thought "well, i don't usually win these things, but i need sunglasses so i might as well try."
so i tried.
and i won.
i was so happy.
and every day thereafter i checked my mailbox maybe twice or thrice a day, and every day i was colossally dissapointed. it never came. unfair.
i still check some days, but i'm not very dissapointed because i'm not expecting anything anymore.
the point is not that.
the point is: it is a sad thing to not win a prize. it is a sadder thing to win a prize but never have it.
