i am literally "pleased as punch" and also "tickled pink"
but i am ok with that.
and sometimes, i sew anyways.
i wanted to make a flower headband out of a zipper.
[i saw something like it in a store last week and fell in love and decided i just had to have it.]
but it cost five dollars.
so, in a classic suzy-attempt to save money [which was not overly successful, as i ended up paying a few dollars for a zipper and a few dollars for a headband to mount the thing on], i decided to make my own.
because i don't sew, i knew i had to figure out some other way to make the zipper stay in that flowery shape and, ultimately, on the headband.
my first attempt was with the leftover fingernail glue from the other night.
that stuff, which seemed so impossible to get unstuck on sunday night, refused to do its adhesive duty tonight.
back to the drawing board...
i don't own a glue gun.
i don't know any headband-making magic tricks.
so i had to sew it.
i had no choice.
the first fifteen minutes were a lot of threading and rethreading that stupid needle, talking aloud to the thread, calling it mean names like "idiot" and "ihateyou" and telling the zipper to "shut up" even though i'm well aware that makes zero sense.
somehow, it sort of came together after a bit of prodding and name-calling.
i was literally shaking as i sewed my zipper rosette to my plastic headband. the shins serenaded me as i sprang from my seat and ran upstairs to barclay, who was napping on the couch.
i jumped on his belly and he awoke with a start. [i like waking him up like that.]
i felt like a three-year-old as i held out my creation for him to inspect.
and he got this great look on his face that said something like but not necessarily, "my wife is awesome at sewing rosettes out of zippers."
